So Sloppy

Tonight was Sloppy Joes night and they never fail to be stick-to-your-ribs delicious. I use Rachael Ray's Super Sloppy Joes recipe, with my own modifications. Here's what I do when I double the recipe, and I try to always double the recipe so Danny has lunch for the next day:
- NO oil (no need)
- 2 lbs of ground turkey
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- however much onion I feel like (didn't have tonight)
- however much red pepper (didn't have tonight)
- 2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. worchestershire sauce
- 3 c. tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes (I buy the HUGE thing from SAMS and freeze it in 1 c. measures)
- 4 Tbsp. tomato paste

I usually follow the directions and add everything when it is time, but tonight I did not want to sit over a hot pan - even for a "30 Minute Meal" - so I browned the turkey and threw everything in the slow cooker. High for 2 hours and the house smelled amazing when we got back from swim lessons. A few toasted challah rolls and salad and everyone was happy - especially Amelia ;)
