Asian Style Tilapia

Last night, I made this very easy, very yummy, very pantry friendly Asian Style Tilapia. I love the individually wrapped tilapia from SAMS, they defrost quickly in warm water and cook up in minutes. These ended up baking for about 20 minutes at 425-450F because of all the liquid and veggies, but the carrots and peppers came out crunchy and perfect. I followed the recipe exactly and added a few drops of sesame oil – you can’t do Asian food without it.

"Can't cook Asian food without sesame oil?!" Please erase that thought from your brain. I am South-east Asian and we cook Chinese, Malay, Indonesian (mainly Padang), Indian (North, south, name it), Vietnamese, Thai, Laotian etc. Sesame oil is used mainly for Chinese cooking... and more heavily in Southern Chinese cooking, mostly Cantonese or Fujian style dishes.... and even then in only a few specific dishes.

I didn't mean to offend you! I just meant that I love sesame oil and use it in any dish that I can sneak it into.
